Frequently asked questions
We define ourselves as a hybrid platform. We are a streaming platform, an art-science hub, a curatorial service, and a networking tool. Like an organism, we keep evolving, embracing new shapes and identities. We believe that moving images can help us create synaptic connections between disciplines, cultures, and ideas.
We have high ambitions. We’re aiming to change the landscape of science communication and outreach through cinema. We also want to challenge the conventional categorization of “science films”. For this very reason, we refer to our moving imagery as Cinema from the Science New Wave.
We bring provocative research-driven visuals to classrooms, on museum exhibit walls, at schools, to your homes, and on your mobile screens. We believe that curation is key to learning about scientific ideas. There is so much breadth, culture, diversity, and story that inhabits the scientific process and the research spaces around us.
LABOCINE aims to also blur the lines between cinema and research videos by curating content of all types and forms. A 30-second microscopy video of a developing fruit fly is as cinematic as a 90-minute feature film!
We’re also a community. We’re building an art/science ecosystem where our Habitat members can share info about their hybrid status. They can also collaborate and exchange video content. Video becomes the unit of information to learn about each other and sparks more scientific stories to be developed.
Our entire platform is built on the traits of the Science New Wave.

Labocine is providing a connective thread between the arts and sciences. We strongly believe in showcasing singular films from around the world. In order to do so, we need to license fees, host films, and sustain our tech services and ever-growing team.
What does our team do exactly? Our LABOCINE team is constantly looking for the latest content, offering new curated programs, highlighting events worldwide, and handpicking films for our audiences worldwide.
However, our community comes first. We’re building an ecosystem that celebrates interdisciplinarity. We want to spark collaborations and exchanges. We also link films and research videos to the HABITAT ecosystem. This all takes time and effort, but we love what we do and ask for your support in exchange.

If you are an entity (even of a single-person who considers themselves as more than just a human), we want to know more. Before onboarding you for the PRO ride, we also want to make sure our visions and interests align. We want to ensure that we can speak to your specific needs (classroom content, museum event, festival, internal use). Before you decide on whether PRO is the right fit for you, we can also tell you what we can and can’t do.
If your mission aligns with ours of bridging arts and sciences, we will welcome you with open arms to the PRO community. We need to ask you a few questions and want to get to know you first.
Please complete the form at Labocine PRO and answer a few questions about your entity: collective, production company, university, non-profit, school, agency…

All PRO affiliations are accessible via your Account page. You can simply SWITCH Accounts and click on your PRO affiliated organization.
