Archive Research Services for TV, Film & Digital

Visual/Art Research was founded by Jeelan Bilal-Gore, an archive researcher and curator with a background in history, literature, and visual cultures and an abiding fascination with their intersections with science. Jeelan uncovers materials in digital and physical archives to help visual storytellers bring fact and fiction to life across tv, film, and digital media. With over 15 years of experience working with museum, commercial, archival, heritage, and private collections, she’s conducted research for and on visual media from various historical periods and diverse cultural contexts across the globe. Whether a 19th-century photograph, 1970s footage, or contemporary digital artwork, wherever an image may be, if it exists, she strives to find it. With experience in provenance research and an understanding of underlying rights, she can also assist with the often complicated process of identifying rights holders and obtaining use permissions. Jeelan also researches visual references to enhance world-building, from art and design to architecture, clothing, and other cultural elements that help create a sense of time and place. In addition to visual research, she can delve into the details of a story using primary and secondary source materials, as well as a network of subject matter experts, to support its development.
