Bourse de Commerce - Pinault Collection

France

About

The history of the Bourse de Commerce runs from the 16th century to the present time. Its building bears witness to many successive architectural transformations, emblematic of their time: residence of Queen Catherine de’ Medici in the 16th century, Halle au blé (Corn Exchange) in the 18th century, Bourse de Commerce (Commodities Exchange) in the 19th century, and then headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the 20th century. In 2016, the City of Paris entrusted François Pinault with the project of transforming the Bourse de Commerce into a museum of Japanese architect Tadao Ando, Pierre-Antoine Gatier, chief architect of French historic sites and the NeM / Niney et Marca architectes agency.
