About

Sophie Capshaw-Mack is an experimental new media artist, who investigates the nature of consciousness through her practice. Guided by her neurodivergence, Sophie constructs technicolor dreamscapes as a medium to explore how thoughts manifest into reality. She aims for her artwork to foster open-mindedness and empathy, uniting diverse forms of intelligence and existence in harmonious resonance. Sophie finds inspiration in concepts like quantum entanglement, panpsychism, and interdimensional exploration – prompting audiences to contemplate cosmic connectivity, nonlocality, and oneness. Additionally, she is intrigued by themes of artificial sentience, extraterrestrial communication, and unified field theory – as well as the ethical implications underlying these ideas.

Sophie holds a Master's in Environmental Science and Policy from Columbia University and a Bachelor's in Philosophy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has had the privilege of collaborating with distinguished institutions such as Columbia Climate School, Columbia University Press, Duke University Forum for Scholars and Publics, The City University of New York (CUNY), The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, the Government of Iceland, and the United Nations International Computing Centre (UNICC).
