A popular science film or a "short industrial report" about the production of gramophone records at the Esta factory. In this protectorate film, director Milan Raym captured in detail the individual phases of the industrial production of so-called shellac records, the predecessors of today's vinyl. It follows the path of the musical performance of Suk's Symphony Asrael performed by the Czech Philharmonic conducted by Rafael Kubelík, from engraving with a sapphire needle into polished wax through chemical processing, matrix production and pressing to the final recording medium, or rather, into the listeners' homes.
