According to an old English tale, Joan of Arc did not die in the fire. Her eyes were burnt with gun powder and she lost her virginity to a local man – ruining her perfect virginal reputation. As if she were a butcher, she was condemned to roam the battlefield looking for something that reminds her of life, looking for surviving female virgins.
