The director followed the daily lives of researchers on the island of Riems, in Germany, home to one of the oldest virus research centers in the world. Since 1910, several hundred scientists have been trying to uncover the secrets of particularly dangerous viruses, such as rabies, swine fever, Ebola and SARS-CoV-2. The island is also home to around twenty different animal species (cows, poultry, pigs, crabs, mosquitoes, etc.), allowing researchers to study the effects of constantly mutating pathogens.
