There Once Was an Island: Te Henua e Nnoho is an 80-minute documentary that explores the profound impact of climate change on the Polynesian community living on Takuu, a small atoll in Papua New Guinea. The film follows three islanders—Teloo, Endar, and Satty—as they confront rising sea levels that threaten their homes and cultural heritage. Facing the possibility of becoming environmental refugees, they must decide whether to relocate to Bougainville, 250 km away, or remain and fight to preserve their unique way of life. The documentary provides an intimate look into the human dimensions of climate change and its effects on indigenous cultures.
