During a three-day boat trip along Rio Negro, towards the extreme northwest of the Brazilian Amazon forest, the complete harmony between water, jungle and sky gave me a feeling of suspension. Arriving in São Gabriel da Cachoeira I met a population in its majority of indigenous people who, despite the secular interventions in the area, still keep their languages alive.
