We have known about malaria for over 100 years. So far, however, it has not been possible to develop a vaccine that would be sufficiently effective against it and thus save the lives of both adults and children. A team of scientists from all over the world will guide us through the research. Every year, 200,000,000 people become infected with malaria and nearly 600,000 of them die, with 80% of the victims being children. Prevention exists, but it's not miraculous - mosquito nets get punctured quickly and long sleeves don't cover everything a person needs. However, Dr. Okumu believes that the most effective prevention is a reliable vaccine. What is a matter of course for the Western world is a dream come true for countries not only on the African continent. After 30 years of effort, will the Oxford University team finally develop a vaccine that succeeds?
