The Bozos of Mali have fished the Niger River better than anyone else for generations. Now, climate change and drought are depleting fish stocks and forcing men to look for alternative livelihoods. Gala fills his boat with sand and gravel and heads to the capital as a “sand fisher” to sell his commodities to the construction industry. Facing another foe, capitalist competition, is the Bozo’s traditional way of life destined to disappear?
