This project explores the unseen impacts of data centers on the urban and environmental landscapes of Paris’s suburbs, where the infrastructure of the digital age comes with high ecological and social costs. Inspired by Naomi Klein’s concept of “sacrifice zones, ” this film will delve into La Courneuve—a Parisian suburb with a proud industrial heritage—as the site of Paris Digital Park. Here, former factories and military complexes have transformed into towering data hubs that reveal the true environmental cost of digital expansion. This experimental film aims to unmask these structures’ hidden ecological toll while critically engaging with the “green” narratives pushed by data companies, uncovering a story that is both eerie and urgent.
