It is nothing new that our planet is getting warmer. A lesser-known fact is that Alpine plants and animals represent a substantial portion of European species. They are now endangered by the rapidly rising temperatures in the Alpine tundra.

In 2023, part of Mt. Fluchthorn collapsed just a few hundred meters from a chalet. This is a consequence of long-term warming, which leads to the thawing of permafrost. But that is no end of the consequences—parasite outbreaks, forest fires, loss of glaciers, and more. Natural ecosystems, as well as locals and tourists, feel the brunt of the change.
