Made in 1982 by Armenian filmmaker Artavazd Pelechian, Our Century is a timeless film made of archival footage from the entire previous century. The film is not written in a narrative mode but resembles a meditation on space exploration, humanity's obsession with excess, and its instinctive vocation for colonization and the occupation of worlds. The faces of astronauts defeated by weightlessness, war images, monumental explosions, the first lunar shots, the burning sun, strange experiments... Everything evokes the disaster that never ceases to come.
