Set during the Nuremberg-like trial of Nazi Wilhelm Grimm (played by Alexander Knox), None Shall Escape tells through flashback the story of how a bitter German World War I vet evolved into a Third Reich commander responsible for the deportation of Jews and other minorities. Finished 18 months before the end of World War II, the film was Hollywood’s first to deal directly with the Holocaust and Nazi atrocities against the Jews. Director De Toth had witnessed Nazi aggression up close while shooting newsreels in Europe during the invasion of Poland in 1939. (86 mins., 4K DCP)
