Two sisters live in bungalow surrounded by backwoods. Mony is 25 and has Down’s Syndrome; Dolly is a nurse at the local hospital while also caring for her sister, having dropped out of medical school when their mother died. There was clearly violence in their past – Mony is gleeful that Papa cannot hit her any more - and constant threats from men in the present; Dolly must be vigilant for both of them. Using the language of horror films, Banerjee highlights the crimes against women that are often swept under the rug.
