Filmed during a voyage in Lapland, Norway, the video depicts a crepuscular landscape as the camera glides over the sea in a 38 minutes long take travelling amongst islands and mountains.
Propelled by a drone music improvisation, the film takes us on an immersive experience through a journey in time, space and light that recalls marine paintings. Mountains seem to move across the sea, gradually disappearing with the light in a slow mystical wandering reminiscent of Nordic mythologies. The title “Mørke” means darkness in Norwegian.
Note: the music is also designed to be played live during the screening by its composer Pierre Denjean (microtonal electric guitar and effects) and Alexandre Ries (gongs). If it’s not possible the video file propose a recorded version of the music.
