When Salma decides to cut her own hair, her mother is predictably furious,. As usual, she crawls into bed with her grandma for comfort. Salma’s grandmother is ill, but she is still the one who laughs at her little rebellions and tells her glorious stories about being queen in a faraway land, where she says she lost her crown. Convinced that if she found the crown, her granny would be well again, Salma sets off on a series of adventures that owe something to Alice in Wonderland and something to the Arabian Nights, gradually learning what it means to be a real queen.
