Sound is the first thing we perceive before being born, which shapes the image of the world around us. It is also an essential part of cinematography, which allows us to tell colourful stories. People tend to forget about the sound in film compared to the visuals. However, it is no less (if not more) important part of the film experience. Making Waves is a historical overview of technological and artistic processes of sound design in canonical works, especially of Hollywood cinema, and an opportunity to learn more about film sound from the perspective of filmmakers including David Lynch, Sofia Coppola, and George Lucas.
