For the fishermen of Lira, on the Costa da Morte, the Prestige was the opportunity to change their relationship with a sea weakened by pollution. The creation of the first Marine Reserve of Fishing Interest, Os Miñarzos, at the request of the artisanal fishing community itself, made them an international example of innovation in the sector. A transcendental process for the fishing communities of the world, but also for society, increasingly aware of the overexploitation of the oceans and the extinction of species.
