In 1924, the Ungemach Garden City was inaugurated in Strasbourg, intended to accommodate couples of "healthy and fertile stock" who, once selected, were required to found large families and raise their children in good conditions of hygiene and morality. This eugenic experiment, which would last more than 50 years, received the approval of local and national, political and scientific authorities, and fascinated many countries around the world. Due to its unprecedented nature, it requires us to revisit the entire history of eugenics, from its origins to its contemporary resurgences. A history that questions science and ethics, the individual and politics.
