Edmond Dantès , a young 19-year-old sailor, arrives in Marseille to become engaged to the beautiful Catalan woman Mercédès. Betrayed by jealous friends, he was denounced as a Bonapartist conspirator and imprisoned. After 14 years, he managed to escape and took possession of a treasure hidden on the island of Montecristo . He will now take revenge on those who wrongly accused him.
