In 1928, under the reformist leadership of Mustafa Kemal, the Turkish government abandoned the Arabic alphabet in favor of the Latin alphabet. This change was implemented very quickly. Arabic inscriptions disappeared from the streets in a matter of days. Behind the bright glow of this reform, both authoritarian and progressive, what are the shadowy areas? What is the extent of the symbolic violence of such a revolution?
