"La République de l'Autoroute" takes us on a walk along the motorways between Marseille and Aix-en-Provence. It tells the story of the subjective experience of an architect-walker caught up in the context. The walker notes the physical and symbolic figures of the landscape by capturing various images. Through walking, he grasps the physical relationships of the infrastructure to the larger landscape and geography. Similarly, he apprehends the forms of nearby spaces, by mingling with the daily and various uses that gravitate near the motorway. Walking between the city and the infrastructure, he will try to define its limits: is the motorway acquiring an "urban" character due to its proximity to the city? Or, on the contrary, is the urban space rather evolving according to the motorway.
