Covering an area of 87,500 square kilometres, the Pelagos sanctuary was created specifically to protect large marine mammals. Many species feed and reproduce in this maritime area that extends from the Giens peninsula to Corsica and Italy: dolphins, whales, fin whales, sperm whales, etc.
