In 1919, YOON Sim-deok, the first Korean government-sponsored student, went to Japan and enrolled at Tokyo Music School, burning with ambition. With her innate free-spirited nature and abundant charm, she constantly attracted the admiring gazes of male students around her. During this time, Sim-deok met KIM Woojin, a central figure in the Drama Art Association formed by the students. He was a married man with a wife and daughter back home, studying theater at Waseda University in Japan. Sim-deok, bold and unrestrained, and Woojin, weak and delicate, fell into an uncontrollable love. Hong Nanpa loved Yoon Sim-deok but treated them both with deep friendship. As Sim-deok transitioned from an opera singer to a popular singer, she continued to care for the despondent Woojin, who fled back to Japan in despair. Reuniting at the place where they first met, the two confirmed their love for each other and committed suicide together on a ship in the Korea Strait.
