A very free and symbolic illustration of what can be called the alienation of man by his own production, the machine, which deprives him of the ability to distinguish between what is objective and what is subjective. Mechanized in turn, the human being seeks to escape this world that overwhelms him. The problem then arises of his difficult adaptation to the new technical situation created.
