Amongst reels of family footage, mainly showing the young daughter of the film-maker, there was one devoted to this budgerigar, perhaps indicating the high esteem in which the bird was held either by the family or by a friend who might have requested a film to be made of their pet. The budgie is attracted by shiny, reflective things which are offered to it in order that its behaviour may be recorded on film.
