This reel contains three different Department of Tropical Research expeditions: 1) The Bathysphere, Bermuda: Bathysphere descent. Pulling in twisted hose and uncoiling. Hurricane on Nonsuch Island. Loading Bathysphere from the deck of Taifun, onto the barge with Beebe and Barton on top. 2) Arcturus expedition in the Galapagos: Volcanic eruptions on Albemarle Island. Flowing of lava into ocean. Steam clouds rising and clouds formed from it overhead. Dr. Beebe and another man walking on the hot lava beds. Crew watching volcano eruptions from the deck of the Arcturus. 3) The Bathysphere, Bermuda: William Beebe telephoning at light window. Fastening hose to cable.
