In Anatomy of Nostalgia images from colonial archives, originally intended as propaganda, follow one another as a stream of fragmented memories. What we see is recognisable and, at the same time elusive and disorienting; a fused abstraction of the past. By making history ambiguous, Kusno invites us to question what we actually see, creating space for new interpretations and meanings.
