This interactive explainer invites audiences to explore the concept of the Shola Sky Islands - isolated habitats of cool, wet elevated areas surrounded by patches of warm, dry plains. These unique habitats are home to a lot of endemic species of flora and fauna. They are named one of the 8 hottest biodiversity hotspots in the world. Unfortunately, these habitats are facing destruction due to development related anthropogenic activities.

This interactive explainer is a combination of illustrations, animations and mini-games, presenting research backed information about the Shola Sky Islands - straight from the findings of scientists at Dr.V.V.Robin's lab, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Tirupati.

This piece is an attempt at conveying the gravity of the dire situtation that these habitats face and hopefully bring about the much needed awareness, public participation needed to enhance conservation efforts.
